I recently lost a lot of weight over the past year, 3.5 stone and I am still losing weight, but I found a little bit of a problem with the firmness of my skin. It could do with a firming up and I thought I’d try out a firming lotion in place of my usual moisturiser. I chose Palmer’s Firming lotion because, like most of their items, it smells absolutely divine, and has you smelling of coconut all day. The butter said to wait 4 weeks after using the lotion 2 times daily to see the difference, and so for 5 weeks, day and night, I’ve been using the lotion in place of a body moisturiser.
There are equal pros and cons with this item. The pros are that I genuinely think that this firmed up my skin. Although its not a huge difference, its enough for me to notice, particularly around my waist, hips and thighs, which were my problem areas. It was also a fantastic moisturiser, and my skin always felt as soft and smooth as when I use my regular moisturiser. Again, the product smells lovely and melts into the skin.
The cons, however, is that it takes a long time to ’sink in’ to the skin. Although it is not so bad at night, where you can pop into bed and wake up the next morning with gorgeous supple skin, in the mornings it was a bit of a pain because my clothes would often stick to me and it would take about 45 minutes before I wouldn’t feel sticky anymore. Another weird effect was that it seemed to ‘flake’ from my skin if I rubbed it too much before it sunk in. I had to find a happy medium between rubbing it in and rubbing too much, or it would start to peel off.
So although there were a few cons to the product, I do think it genuinely works if you can put up with it. It is available in Waterford Health Park Pharmacy, Boots and other selected pharmacies.
