Teeth Whitening

Every second person is whitening there teeth these days. It seems to be a national obsession now. There are lots of coffee/tea drinkers and smokers out there and its so easy to have discoloured teeth. A lot of teeth whitening can damage your teeth so I was looking at natural ways to whiten teeth.

Following a picture I seen on La Beaute Make Up Artistry Page on Facebook, I purchased activated charcoal tablets in Full of Beans Waterford. I have found that no matter what toothpaste you use it doesn't make a difference. As crazy as it sounds, this one simple home remedy can really whiten teeth (and help with gum disease) and is also very effective against food poisoning and other types of internal toxins.

I did some research and found out that even though it temporarily makes the mouth look extremely black (see picture above!) it has the same effect as it does when ingested: it pulls toxins from the mouth and removes stains. (Warning: when you open your mouth, it is completely black and rather scary looking! Right after I did this the first time I was intensely worried that it would stain my teeth!). To my surprise, all of the black washes away and it makes your teeth feel extremely clean and smooth. After a few uses, my teeth were noticeably whiter too

Dip a clean, wet toothbrush into the powdered charcoal (or dump a capsule of charcoal on the toothbrush). Lean over the container or charcoal and quickly put the charcoal covered toothbrush in the mouth (this is to protect your sink). Brush in small, gentle circles for 2 minutes, spit carefully and rinse really well. Your mouth will feel amazingly clean…. your sink, not so much! Use as often as needed.

After doing this the colour of my teeth improved immensely so I made my own D.I.Y toothpaste with charcoal. I crushed up some tablets and mixed with some toothpaste and used it twice a day to brush my teeth for colour maintenance. It worked. Low and behold a few weeks after doing this a charcoal toothpaste was released by Beverly Hills. This is available in Tescos for €4.99.

Has anyone ever done anything like this? I love it when my teeth are pearly white!
