Uriage Thermal Water Products

A few weeks back I was lucky enough to receive some fabulous Uriage products from Conefreys Pharmacy, Pearse St. Dublin. I got an amazing opportunity to work closely with the pharmacy. As part of my package I received 4 Uriage products. Up until then Uriage was a relatively new brand to me. I had only heard of it from a good friend who had given me some small samples of their new Bariederm hand range a few days previous. Upon receiving my items I set about researching into who Uriage were. I knew from the name they were French and my immediate reaction was, if the range is anything like Avene or La Roche Posay then I know i am in for a treat. Well I have to say i have not been dissapointed. So before I go on to reviewing the products I am going to fill you all in a little bit on Uriage as they are relatively new to Ireland, but their products are fast becoming widely available.

Uriage has been meeting the needs of sensitive skin thanks to its internationally renowned dermatological expertise since its creation in 1992. After the invasion of Gaul, the Romans stopped on their journey over the Alps and found a spring in the foothills of the Belledonne mountains. They realized that this water had healing properties and decided to build the first thermal center there. Relics discovered close to the spring are evidence of this centuries-old thermal tradition. In the 1920s, Uriage becomes a fashionable listed thermal spa town like the first center at Dauphiné. Numerous celebrities come to stay at Uriage including Edmond Rostand, Coco Chanel and even Colette.

In 1992 the Uriage brand was officially created, and  was the first dermo-cosmetic skincare based on Thermal Water. Uriage enables everyone to benefit from the dermatological virtues of its Thermal Water, which is the essential active ingredient in all its skincare. A series of new products under the Uriage brand name were created and met with strong approval from dermatologists. The Uriage brand subsequently was branded a Dermatological Laboratory. The Uriage production facility is located at the spring, enabling every step of the manufacturing process to be continuously controlled. This facility adheres to the exacting standards of the pharmaceutical industry.

Today Uriage is one of the leading dermo-cosmetic brands on the international market. Every day, thousands of products are shipped in France and over 70 countries worldwide. With 20 years of skin expertise, Uriage Dermatological Laboratories develop products in collaboration with dermatologists and pharmacists from all over the world. The products are subject to clinical testing which support each of their claims. All skincare products are formulated according to a strict charter which adheres to pharmaceutical standards. The formulas are hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic, paraben-free, and with a minimum concentration of preservatives to better respect your sensitive skin. Uriage has combined Uriage Thermal Water with numerous highly innovative active ingredients from biotechnological research. These patented active ingredients are included in many ranges (XÉMOSE, HYSÉAC, BARIÉDERM, etc.). The products include the list of ingredients. For the visually impaired, the product name is written in braille on the packaging. Uriage also has a cosmetovigilance team. Uriage products respond to the needs of all skin types, regardless of age, including the most sensitive.

So onto what I received, I got the new Creme Lavante and Gommage Integral, which are the new Cream Cleanser and Exfoliator respectively. I immediately used them that evening to remove my make up and then to exfoliate. Right first off, the smell when you open the box is just heaven. It reminds me of something but for the life of me the word for it will not come to me.

Creme Lavante (€12.50)

Upon opening the tube of Creme Lavante I was greeted with a pleasant clean smell,  this contains 1/3 nourishing milk, this cream preserves the hydrolipidic film, perfectly respects the cutaneous balance and compensates for the drying effects of hard water.

This makes my skin super soft but is not at all harsh on the skin. Being termed as a nourishing and cleansing cream and having glycerin in it, it does not dry out the skin completely. It is soap free and meant for sensitive skin so this is a safe product for all out there. Now one thing that requires special mention and that is, this cleanser is meant for all-babies, children and adults for face, body and hair. I am little unsure about using this product on my hair. I have not tried this on my hair but as a face wash this is amazing. Since using the product any redness i had on my face seems to have cleared up and my face seems lovely and soft and supple. The product itself is really creamy when you take some from the tube, but once it is mixed with a wet face it forms a lovely lather. As this product is soap free it is not superdrying on the skin compared to other cream cleansers I have used. It is extremely nourishing and even though my skin feels like i do not need a moisturiser I do still moisturise.

Another thing to note is this product contains 10% Thermal Spring Water. Thermal water has been used for thousands of years and it's primary use is to relieve the skin of certain afflictions. Thanks to its purifying effect and antioxidant properties, thermal water is the go-to product for those with atypical skin types. If you have dry or sensitive skin or if you suffer from eczema, rosacea, or psoriasis, thermal water is for you. Thanks to it’s anti-inflammatory and soothing properties, you will notice a decrease in itchiness. Your skin will become softer and smoother and rashes due to eczema, rosacea and psoriasis will become less noticeable and could possibly disappear completely. So as their is 10% Thermal Spring Water in Creme Lavante it is really is a very verstaile product in relation to treating sensitive skin conditions. Anyone who finds their skin sensitive to normal skincare products needs to purchase this winner of a product. I really cannot get over how much clearer my skin in in the few weeks I have been using it. It is retailing at €12.50 for 200ml, which is excellent value for such an equally excellent product. My creme lavante was part of a double pack which costs €12.50 so you are getting your gommage integral exfoliator for free in the duo pack, super super value to be had, make sure and check it out.

Gommage Integral (€19.50 for 200ml)

This 2-in-1 skincare product for face and body gently scrubs out and cleanses skin.
Thanks to exfoliating micro-beads, it gently eliminates dead cells to stimulate cell renewal, leaving skin clean, radiant and extremely soft.It contains Uriage Thermal Water, Soap-free cleansing base, Exfoliating micro-beads and hibiscus flower AHA's, Vitamins E and C,  Glycerin. This product is also Paraben free. So directions for use are to massage lightly onto wet skin, once to twice a week and then rinse. This little gem of a product is ideal before a mask, self-tanner or epilation. The formula is a blue consistency with tiny little granules and a few larger white grains.
I started by applying this in the shower on my skin and realised, nope. I like a good scrub and this almost felt like body wash to me. Far too gentle. However after doing some investigating I discovered that this needs to be applied dry on the body and wet for the face. Ah! That made a lot more sense and definitely works a treat once you adopt that technique.

For the face I enjoy using it along with my Penneys Cleanser Brush if I’ve been wearing very heavy makeup that day,  otherwise most days with my fingers is good enough. It’s a very gentle exfoliator and leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth after. This is a great formula for sensitive skin as it doesn’t contain any harsh chemicals other exfoliators may contain. Again as it is paraben free and soap free there is no drying of the skin, skin feels nice and soft and supple following using this. This little diamond retails at €19.50 for 200ml which is fabulous as you don't need to use a large amount. The one I received was 50ml as part of the duo pack and i have barely put a dent in it.

I love my Uriage double pack and if i had to go out and purchase I most defintely would. It is excellent for sensitive skin's, it's so gentle it can be used on babies, i mean if that doesn't make you want to go out and get it I dont know what else to say. Retailing at €12.50 its a steal. It really is a great all round product. I am so happy I discovered this brand.

Déodorant Tri-Actif (€9.50)

This freshly and delicately fragranced deodorant lastingly regulates perspiration and effectively fights against odor. Déodorant Tri-Actif offers long-lasting freshness and cleanliness.  A complex of antibacterial and anti-enzyme active ingredients effectively fights against odors. Enriched with Uriage Thermal Water and soothing active ingredients, the sensitive underarm area is softened and soothed. You use 2 sprays per underarm and thats it. I spray this first thing the morning and I still feel refreshed and clean 12 hours later. It claims to keep you fresh for 24 hours. I can honestly say that even when I wake up the following morning I still feel fresh and clean and smell fresh. This is a great little product and as it is enriched with Thermal water it is nice and soothing on the underarm's sensitive skin. Retailing at €9.50 its excellent value compared to other high end brand deodrants I have used. I have been using it for 2 weeks solid and I have only barely dented the bottle. You only use 1-2 sprays per underarm so a little really does go a long way.

Thermal spring water is more than just water in a can – it packs a great deal of skin benefits like reducing inflammatory symptoms after dermatological surgery, laser surgery or chemical peelings; setting makeup, relief of itch, and more.

Itch Relief
Eczema flare ups can be controlled with steroid creams but sometimes the itch is unbearable with red patches. Constant scratching can cause infections and scars. Uriage Thermal Water is great for people with atypical skin types like eczema, rosacea, psoriasis, due to the anti-inflammatory and soothing properties of thermal water. I personally have experienced a decrease in itchiness on my sensitive, easily irritated skin.

Facial Redness
I have sensitive skin that gets red. Sometimes it is due to the effects of treatment, sometimes for reasons I cannot comprehend. The Uriage Thermal Water has so far proven its ability to calm the redness and rebalance my skin each time it threatens to act up.

Treatment of Burns and Wounds
Because it is loaded with regenerating minerals and antioxidants, it protects our skin against free radicals and helps prevent fine lines and the signs of aging. Super refreshing on hot days! It can also treat sunburn and superficial wounds.

Post-dermo-aesthetic Procedures
As mentioned earlier, Uriage Thermal Spring Water can help treat certain inflammatory skin conditions when used as a therapeutic complement after dermatological surgery, laser surgery or chemical peelings.

Set Makeup
There are many types of makeup setting sprays in the market which contain a lot of chemicals. Sensitive skin like mine can get easily irritated with products containing high concentrations of synthetic ingredients. Uriage Thermal Water is pure and rich in minerals, and is great for use under and over makeup, and an instant ‘pick-me-up’ throughout the day.

During & After Workouts
I bring the small bottle around and spray it whenever I feel like it, but my favorite time to do it is after a workout. Cools me down real fast and makes me feel less sticky.

Traveling
I had this in my handbag all the time. This is the perfect beauty product for travel – it doesn’t spill, no extra tools needed, nobody will judge you for spraying mist on your face, and it hydrates your skin in the dry air inside the metal tube.

Wakes You Up
Instead of drinking a cup of super thick coffee to prevent yourself from dozing off or dunking your head in a bucket of ice water, maybe you can try spraying Uriage Thermal Water! It is a more natural way than caffeine overdose and you won’t get brain freeze. I store a bottle in the fridge especially for mornings and hot days.

Uriage Thermal Water can be used for all the reasons above and is a real all rounder product. This comes in 3 different sizes, 300ml for €14.50, 150ml for €9.50 and 50ml for €5.00. The 300ml can is super value, the 50ml can is excellent for travelling or just for popping into your bag and carrying around. There is a size to suit all.

Uriage is available in selected pharmacies around the country. Check out Uriage for more info.  Conefreys in Pearse St have this in stock make sure and check it out.
