Sleek MakeUP has to be my favourite drug store make up brand!
Because they're always releasing great new products, and everything is pretty affordable! For those of you who don’t know anything about Sleek MakeUp, they are a
cosmetics company out of the U.K. Originally geared towards the Women
of Colour market, they have long been popular with women from all races
due to the excellent quality of their products and their wide range of
colours. I myself own a number of their i-Divine Eye Shadow Palettes as
well as a Blush-by-3 palette. Despite my love
for Sleek MakeUp and their products, I have never owned any of their lip
products…until now! I own 2 of the Sleek True Colour Lipstick
in various colours which I was recently gifted by Waterford Health Park Pharmacy. I love most
of the range because it contains so many vibrant, bold and bright
colours you don't see in other drug store ranges. The shades I own are: Peaches and Cream and Heartbreaker.
Anyway onto the review!
When you purchase the Sleek True Colour Lipstick they come in
cute little boxes which kind of gives that high end feel. The actual
packaging of the lipstick itself is also quite chic and sleek - the
tubes are black, oval and understated. I like the fact the tubes are
quite plain however the colour stickers on the top are not always a good
reflection on the colour of the lipstick. They are very compact and tiny
compared to regular bullets. The best part is that these actually hold the same amount of product as normal lipsticks! The Sleek True Colour Lipstick come in two finishes which are Sheen and Matte.
Obviously the Sheen have a more shiny, creamy finish where as the Matte
are more flat looking. Some of the matte shades can be a little dry. The Sheen finish lipstick are less problematic, apply easily and evenly.
Peaches and Cream : I loved the shade the moment I twisted it up the case. It is a vibrant peachy orange shade with an amazing glossy texture. It is soft and gives a very bright luster to my lips. It glided on effortless and my lips definitely looked vivid with the application of this chic looking lipstick.
Heartbreaker : is a pretty bright pink shade with coral undertone. Its kind of the perfect neon coral pink and it was definitely love at first side for me as soon as I applied it and can’t even keep count of the number of compliments and queries I have received whenever I wear this shade.

Personally, I love matte lipstick because you have that bit more versatility because you can wear them matte or add a lip gloss for a high shine finish. Overall there is 31 shades in the range. There is a complete variety of colour as you can see below. My favourite shade from the range is Russian Roulette (great everyday red), Peaches and Cream (great everyday shade) and Heartbreaker (great bright shade for the Spring!). There are quite a few dupes within the collection so be mindful when purchasing these lipstick (I've named the ones I know in this post here.
The consistency of these lipsticks are very smooth, soft and creamy. You only need one layer for these to be opaque and no more! I love how even though they are thicker in texture, they don't make lip lines more visible but in fact melt into them and your lips look and feel so smooth and soft! These feel like a heavier version of YSL rouge volupte lipticks. These have a nice 'sheen' to them definitely but it's not really shiny or glossy. I have few problems wearing these for most of the day as they don't cause peeling on my lips like some products do and they feel very comfortable,
and not drying although they stay on really well! I'm
not afraid that the bold shades will stray outside the lipstick at all!
Super pigmented, creamy and so comfortable although they aren't slippery
and light in texture! These will work for those with drier and
sensitive lips and you don't need to worry about bleeding or uneven
wearing off! Retailing at €6.49 they are fantastic value. These are available locally in Waterford Health Park Pharmacy, and Castle Pharmacy or in selected Boots stores or on boots.ie . Check them out on Sleek's website!

The
very first thing I noticed is they don’t have that cheap lipstick
smell. This is a major plus for me as every drugstore lipstick I’ve
tried (Covergirl, Black Opal, Black Radiance) have had that crayon and
rubbery smell. I actually didn’t notice a scent at all on these Sleek
lipsticks. The tube seems smaller than most other lipsticks I own so I
compared the size to a MAC lipstick as you can see in the pic above.
Funny thing though is Sleek lipsticks are 3.5g while MAC’s are 3.0g. You
get a little bit more lipstick with Sleek.
There’s also a great selection of bright lipsticks so if you love color, these are up your alley. Some of the colors were too bright even for me and I love a bright lip…lol. The brighter ones can be toned down a bit with concealer or by mixing a darker lip pencil or lipstick into it. There are also a few nude colors which wouldn’t be nudes for my NW47 skin (OK, I just can’t get down with nude on me since I’m so used to wearing red…lol). But for medium (like Sarah Jessica Parker), light olive (like Kim Kardashian), and dark olive (like Freida Pinto) skin tones, there’s some good nudes.
FYI: Rubbing off the lipsticks in between shades made my lips get tired and sore…lol. Plus I used makeup wipes to get all the color off so it wouldn’t taint the next swatch, so the residue from the wipes affected the application of some of the lighter colors on my lips. I also didn’t know if I should smile or keep my mouth closed so there’s a a variety. I normally don’t so lip swatches (because they hurt after a while), but a reader asked that I do so here we go :)
All of these lipsticks glided on pretty well. I’ll let you know about wear once I’ve had a chance to really test them out.
