Sunday Snippet : Dee-Termined to Glam and Glow

Todays Sunday Snippet is featuring the ever so fabulous Denise from Dee-Termined to Glam and Glow. I am particularly drawn to Denise's blog as I am on my own weight loss and healthy eating journey. I also run and like to read Denise's running posts. Denise also features beauty and body posts. So the blog has something for everyone. Check out Denise's interview below.

Firstly can I just say a huge THANK YOU to Rachael for allowing me to be part of this series! Its such a great opportunity for a newbie blogger like myself to get my name out there.

So here it is:
 1.      Can you tell us a little about yourself?

Im a 32 year old wife and mother and I met my husband through mutual friends in Sydney Australia, where we lived and worked for 2 years. We got married in 2013 and 9 months later Colin arrived! In 2004 I completed a Bachelors degree in Business Studies and Marketing. Following our return from Australia in 2009 I decided to go back to college and am now a fully qualified Beauty and Body Therapist. At the moment I work for a frozen food company in Limerick. I love to learn and love completing courses. My ideal job would be to get paid to complete as many different types of courses as I could!

2.      How did you get into blogging and why?

I had my son in June 2014 and quickly piled on the pounds so when I saw that The RTE Today Show were looking for 2 people to participate in the “Drop A Dress Size” Challenge, I decided to apply. Lucklily I was picked, along with fellow blogger Eimear Kelly of Chirps from A Little Red Hen, and from there we began our weight loss journey. I managed to lose 10lbs and loved the “new” me! Following on from this I planned to start 2015 on a good note by aiming to reach my long term goals of getting fit and leading a healthier lifestyle. It was suggested to me, on numerous occasions that I start a blog because I had received such great feedback from my time on The Today Show. So January 2015 saw the start of Dee-Termined to Glam & Glow! My main reason for starting the blog was to motivate myself to do what I needed to in order to reach my goals. It was much easier to find the motivation when I was on the TV each week but I found that I, very quickly, slipped back into old habits and got lazy. The blog was a great way of motivating me to stay on track. So far it has been going really well.

3.      What do you do when you aren’t working on your blog?

I work full time for a frozen food company in Limerick and when I’m not working I’m looking after my 9 month old little man! We are so busy with working and having a small baby that we don’t get to go on nights out that much. I am, however, making more time to get out and about by doing 5k or 10k runs or some mountain climbing. I am planning to climb Carrantoohill, Croagh Patrick and Galteemore this year.

4.      Are you a full time blogger?

No I am not, although I would love to blog full time at the moment it is just not possible because I work full time!

5.      How do you keep coming up with content for your blog?

I like to take inspiration from personal experiences when writing for the blog. I don’t like to write about anything unless I have had some experience with the particular subject. I don’t think that I would be able to write about something unless I was 100% comfortable with it! By setting myself Long Term Goals for 2015, e.g. completing different local runs or climbs/walks, it gives me plenty to talk about!!!

6.      Name some of the bloggers whom you look up to and why?

John Quinlivan of From19st to 10K is an inspirational blogger to me. His story is like so many other Irish peoples and I find myself getting hugely motivated whenever I read his blog! I love his honesty. His blog is so real and true that it draws you in!

7. Name the top blogs you read?

Rachsbeautique, of course!!!
Chirps from A Little Red Hen
Make My Day
From 19St to 10K

8. What makes you read the above blogs?

I like that each of these blogs draw from their own experiences. I just find that when someone speaks from the heart, it draws me in and makes me feel like I’m getting to know them. I suppose I can relate to them and I enjoy reading their blogs even more. It’s a great form of motivation for me to see that other people have had similar experiences to me and have come out the other side and I find that I look forward to reading about their newest adventure.

9. Tell us something we don't know about you?

This is always a hard question because I never know what to say. Something random about me is that my husband is exactly 9 months younger than me! I was born on the 27th of September and he was born on the 27th of June!
