Today's Sunday Snippet features the lovely Áine from Social Onya. I love sitting down and having a read through her most recent posts from beauty, skincare or just general lifestyle posts. It truly is a fabulous blog make sure and check it out. Below is our interview.
1. Can you tell us a little about yourself?
I’m a digital
marketing and social media enthusiast with a love for networking. I am
currently the Assistant Project Manager at Medistori, a start-up company based
in Mayo. It was from working at MediStori, that I found her new passion for
blogging. I decided to begin my own personal blog. I basically blog about
whatever takes my fancy at the time, whether it’s an event I attended, raising awareness
for things I believe in, beauty, it could be anything. Unfortunately due to
other commitments (mentioned below) I don’t get to be as consistent with my
blog as I wish I could be.
I joined JCI Mayo,
a worldwide, voluntary organisation in January and am the 2015 Director of
Training & Director of Communications. After travelling all over the
country for numerous Digital Marketing & Social Media events, I saw the
need for something similar in Mayo. After meeting other like-minded people, I became
one of the co-founders of DMiMayo (Digital Marketing in Mayo), a new free
network in Mayo aimed to help businesses with their Digital Marketing &
Social Media needs.
2. How did you get into blogging and why?
As I mentioned
above it was from my work. I write a number of health related blogs for our
work website and I loved doing them. They were a little challenging for me as
they were health related but I decided why not also wrote about things I love
and am passionate about. So I decided to start a blog and see how I got on. I’ve
now decided because I like it so much, I’m going to buy a domain and set it up
properly in the near future.
3. What do you do when you aren’t working on your
blog?
I attend a number
of JCI events, both locally and nationally – they could be anything from
jiving, to a leadership weekend retreat, dinners, awards, training,
volunteering, etc. I’m also very busy with setting up our DMiMayo launch. I
love to attend GAA games when I can. Reading is something I’m getting back into
again. It’s rare I have the spare time to do so though. I love once a week to
go for long walk on the beach to clear my head and de-stress.
4. Are you a full time blogger? How did you get
into blogging and why?
No I work full time
and have so many other things going on. I blog whenever I can but it normally
ends up being once every two – three weeks unfortunately. This is something I
plan on changing soon though, as I plan to become more consistent once I set up
my main domain
5. How do you keep coming up with content for your
blog?
Coming up with the
content is easy, it’s sitting down to write it that I find difficult. I have
two full A4 pages of things I want to blog about, I’ve just not had a chance. I
attend a lot of events, shop too much, am very passionate about a lot of things
so I find coming up with content nearly too easy.
6. Name some of the bloggers whom you
look up to and why?
Probably my boss
Olive. She writes most of the blogs for the MediStori website and each and
every one inspires me. She is also the person who originally encouraged me to
begin blogging and she’s never stopped supporting me since I began. I also look
up to plenty of social media bloggers as I learn so much from their posts. For example
Samantha Kelly, Jenny Brennan, Kim Garst etc.
7. Name the top blogs you read?
LC’s Closet
Bella and Vogue
A Modern Mommy’s
World
Fabulicious Fifty
Chasing Rubies
Sooooooo many more!
8. What makes you read the above blogs?
The honesty & simplicity in their
posts. I love seeing what’s going on in their lives, I find them refreshing!
9. Tell
us something we don't know about you?
I’m little obsessed about 90s music,
play it all time in my car and lot people laugh at it. Cheesy 90s is the best!
