Today's Sunday Snippet features the lovely Waterford blogger Shannon, I met Shannon at an event back in Urban Decay a few months ago and we have met again at other events. I love checking out what products and looks Shannon is using. She is a lovely girl and I urge you all to check out her blog.
1. Can you tell us a little about yourself?
My
name is Shannon Whelan. I'm 19 years old and I'm studying Marketing
with Advertising and Online Media in college, I'm going into my second
year now! I'm a self confessed makeup addict and I'm counting down the
days til I can go travelling (wishing my life away as my mother would
say), I can't wait to see all the wonderful countries and places I've
heard so much about!
2. How did you get into blogging and why?
Blogging
is something I've been interested in for awhile and I was humming and
hawing for ages about starting one but I'm just finished a Makeup &
Portfolio course with the BeautyTeam Studio and it was during that I
decided to make a Facebook page for my makeup and doing that really made
me want to start blogging properly! I'm pretty opinionated and I have a
lot to say about different makeup products/looks/trends so I thought
why not share it with people? A review I write could help someone make
up their decision before they spend 30euro on a product they're not sure
about and that to me is a major success!
3. What do you do when you aren’t working on your blog?
When
I'm not blogging I'm probably (definitely) trying a new makeup look on
myself or using my sister and friends as guinea pigs instead! If not
that then I'm either in work/college/with my friends or when I'm feeling
particularly crazy: watching Netflix in bed or having some bonding time
with Spotify hahaha!
4. Are you a full time blogger?
If
only! It'd be crazy for being a full time blogger to be even on the
cards some day! I love doing it as a hobby and as a kind of support to
my makeup page as they both go hand in hand but if it could turn into
something more I'd be delighted!
5. How do you keep coming up with content for your blog?
I
don't have a huge amount of blog posts at the minute coz I'm new enough
to blogging, but I do have a huge list of ideas! Every time I get a new
product or do a new makeup look or anything I'm always like 'yep
there's gonna be a blog post about that'. As well, a lot of people ask
me questions about different products and what would work for them so if
I find a product that I feel, for instance, would work for a certain
skintype I'm gonna blog about it so people know!
6. Name some of the bloggers whom you look up to and why?
I'm
obsessed with Wayne Goss and how he's always coming up with new and
better ways to do things! He's a genius when it comes to makeup! But I
mean, any of the successful bloggers are worth looking up to, becoming a
well known blogger isn't easy and for anyone to build themselves up to
that is so admiral!
7. Name the top blogs you read?
The
blogs I read most often are FacesByGrace, Hearts Heels & Handbags,
Makeup Fairy and My Makeup Perspective! I don't have a lot of time to
sit down and read blog posts often between trying to do my own posts and
everything else but when I do these are the ones I always go to first! I
love following them all on Snapchat too!
8.What makes you read the above blogs?
I
love when a blogger puts their personality into a blog and you can
really get a sense of what they're like as a person and you come to
value their opinion a lot through that. I think all the bloggers that
I'd read most have that quality about them, and sounds stupid but I feel
like I actually know them haha!
9. Tell us something we don't know about you?
You
probably wouldn't think it by the full face of makeup I usually wear
and the obsession I have with beauty products, but I'm actually such a
tom boy! I love sport and until I was around 15 you wouldn't have caught
me dead in a dress or a skirt! I'll often do a client's makeup and then
sit down and watch matches for the day! I'm a diehard Waterford
supporter too, 'loves me county' hahaha! And a lot of people don't know
that I'm actually fairly shy even though I don't come across like it,
fake it til you make it and all that!
