Today's Sunday Snippet features the lovely Claire, from Volta Fitness and ClairebyReverie. Claire is a fab blogger with two blogs. How she finds time I will never know as well as been a personal trainer. I have recently been working with Claire on her #Irishbloggersgetfit challenge and I am loving it.
So onto the interview
1. Can you tell us a little about yourself?
What's
to tell? I'm an ordinary girl with a love of make up, especially if it
leans towards an Addams Family look. I suppose I'm not 'mainstream';
always veering off the beaten track when it comes to most things and
that shows in most of my interests. I guess you could say I'm
'versatile'; I have a degree in Media Production Management and I'm also
Personal Trainer so that should give you an idea of my range of
interests!
2. How did you get into blogging and why?
I
started blogging when I was 18 (back in 2008) because I was studying
journalism and I thought it would be a good way to practice my writing. I
started off just writing music reviews because I absolutely adore music
but in the end it became jarring because it's difficult to pick
something apart that you just want to lose yourself in! I had quite a
lot of success with my old blog music & everything, which was a
beauty blog for music lovers, but I had to give it up for various
reasons and just focused on fitness writing for a while. I've been
through a few stages as a blogger!
3. What do you do when you aren’t working on your blog?
By
day I'm an Inbound Marketing Manager for a company called emarkable. I
started working with them in June and it's the most satisfying job I've
ever had. I'm really in my element. For those who aren't sure, inbound
marketing is a collection of online marketing activities that draw
prospective clients and customers to you.
4. Are you a full time blogger? How did you get into blogging and why?
I'm not a full time blogger; not really anyway, although blogging is a big part of my full time job.
5. How do you keep coming up with content for your blog?
This
is a blessing and a curse; but my mind is constantly going so I usually
have a notebook beside me to scribble down ideas. They come to me
randomly; I could be reading something that sparks inspiration, I could
be annoyed about something, I could see a lot of people asking a
question I could answer on Twitter... inspiration is every where you
just have to be switched on. On the flipside it's a curse when you can't
switch off.
6. Name some of the bloggers whom you look up to and why?
There
are so many bloggers I admire. I've been reading Sue Jordan's blog
Cherry Sue Doin' The Do since she first started blogging and I've always
found her humour and her willingness to support other bloggers really
refreshing. I particularly admire bloggers who are parents like Sharon
from Behind Green Eyes, Sara Delmer from Where is My Mind and Dani from
Lilliwhiterose because they are responsible for lives of little people
and they still find time to create truly fantastic content.
7. Name the top blogs you read?
The blogs I check every day, without fail, to see if something new has been posted are:
Sophistikat.ie
Thebeautifultruth.ie
lilliwhiterose.com/squidgymoments.ie
whereismymindgone.blogspot.ie
nursefancypants.blogspot.ie
& Behindgreeneyes.com
Thankfully they don't all post every day or I'd get nothing done.
8.What makes you read the above blogs?
A
few reasons; for the most part they don't just phone in there reviews.
They really give a thought to what they are writing and they give so
much detail. There is nothing more off putting than a churned out review
just written to get the clicks.
I
love how their personalities are reflected in their posts as well; it
is easy to write a review or a think piece but to leave a bit of
yourself in it is really special. I also just like how they write; I am
picky about what I read because if something isn't enthralling for one
reason or another I will get bored- short attention span. I find their
writing seamless and it just grabs.
9. Tell us something we don't know about you?
Here's
something even a lot of people who are close to me don't know. I've
written 2 books. One I wrote when I was 16 and another I wrote when I
was 20. I don't think they will ever see the light of day but they are
two fully fledged, 30+ chapter books for a young adult audience. So
there you go.
