Dermalogica Charcoal Rescue Masque

Good Ole Sulphur eh! A few weeks ago now I received the new Dermalogica Charcoal Rescue Masque. I love Dermalogica products. In college we use them all the time, and I think the Daily Microfoliant is my favourite. Check out the training day we did in college with Dermalogica here

So, Popeye had his spinach for strength and it is 100% certain that we benefit from natural ingredients in our products. Dermalogica have looked into bringing natural ingredients to its new mask which instantly detoxifies and brightens all skin conditions. The Charcoal Rescue Masque retailing at €48/£38 is made of a combination of charcoal, volcanic ash, sea silt, bamboo and sulphur to give the skin a healthy, vibrant and balanced glow.  It literally is magic, it is packed to the top with ingredients which draw out excess sebum and impurities, it refines pores, calms redness, and it improves the skin texture and smoothness. The masque helps with skin ageing, dullness, breakouts and importantly sensitivity.

So let's take a quick look at some of the ingredients :

  • Activated Binchotan (Japanese Ubame Oak) Charcoal – draws out excess sebum, toxins and other impurities. Renowned for its adsorption abilities
  • Sulphur – promotes cellular turnover for dramatically brighter skin. Removes dulling, dead skin cells and combats breakout-causing bacteria. Ideal for calming rosacea, eczema and sebaceous dermatitis. Antibacterial and anti-inflammatory
  • Volcanic Ash, Hot Spring, Marine Silt (mud), Bamboo Stem Extract – physical exfoliants to leave skin smooth and revitalised
  • Phytic, Lactic and Mandelic Acid – chemical exfoliants which accelerate cellular turnover, increasing collagen production and brightening skin
  • Niacinamide – combats redness, inflammation and congested pores
  • Chilean Wild Mint – improves skin texture and reduces pore visibility

So now onto the product itself and how it worked on my skin. I knew instantly it was going to make a difference. It’s a dark grey in colour and literally after a few seconds on your skin, it begins to harden. I left the masque on for around 10 minutes in total, then lightly massaged it off, making sure to roll over the skin to enhance the exfoliation. Once it was all off my skin looked like new. It looks 100 times better.  For me the test is always how my makeup applies the day after a masque and oh my goodness it just glided onto my skin. The masque can be applied up to four times per week or when the skin needs rescuing. Below you can see how amazing my skin looks after using the masque.

It draws out any impurities/sebum that may be in excess on the skin. I have a particularly oily t zone so it worked like a dream on it. I have been regularly using the masque during the weeks since I received it and my skin is in tip top condition due to this. Just look at how well my makeup looks.

Check out the video below on how to apply and how great the skin looks afterwards.
