Today's Sunday Snippet features the lovely Denise who is a relatively new blogger on the blogging scene. I am pleased to introduce you all to Denise, who loves all things beauty related like myself.
Q1: Can you tell us a little about yourself?
My name is Denise, I'm 26 and completely obsessed by all things beauty and celebrity!
Q2: How did you get in to blogging and why?
About a year or so ago, several people had asked me whether I'd ever consider writing one and I brushed it off for a long time. As I've said in my blog, I'm not trained at all so I wasn't sure if anyone would ever read it! A few months ago, I thought sure why not? If no one reads it, no one reads it but at least I tried and wouldn't regret not doing it later on.
Q3: What do you do when you're not working on your blog?
I work in a local pharmacy and if I'm not out and about shopping, I'm usually online shopping! I'll admit I do have a problem when it comes to shopping, haha! I also have a ton of nieces and nephews so I can usually be found hanging out with a least two of them at any one time!
Q4: Are you a full time blogger? How and why did you get into it?
Unfortunately, I'm not a full time blogger, I'd love to devote more hours to it then I do at the moment. I don't think that I'd ever reach that level of success where it could become full time but, hey, you never know, stranger things have happened and everyone has to start somewhere! To be honest I eventually decided to take the plunge because I needed a creative outlet, I think my family and friends were beyond sick of me constantly talking the ears off them all!
Q5: How do you keep coming up with content for your blog?
To be honest my shopping addiction fuels a lot of the posts! I made a promise to myself though, that I'd only feature products that I was completely obsessed with, and that I'd know that other people would love too. If I don't like something, I don't mention it, it's that simple for me.
Q6: Name some bloggers you look up to and why?
Oh my god, there's just so many! I love different types of bloggers and vloggers too. I'm normally attracted to fun and quirky blogs that have a positive outlook. I follow a ton that post about different things too, I don't just follow beauty and lifestyle. Variety is the spice of life after all!
Q7: Name some bloggers you look up to and why?
I absolutely respect and admire SoSueMe, Suzanne has had such phenomenal success in the last few years that I think she makes such a great role model for anyone wanting to get into the beauty industry, whether it's blogging, business, marketing etc; she does it all! I also love Rosie Connolly from Hearts, Heels and Handbags, she features a good mixture of high and low end products. I went to a Masterclass she held in Dundrum last Summer and I learned so much from her! She's absolutely stunning and so lovely in real life too! I love reading my local fellow blogger It's All G! She's amazing and so supportive to other local bloggers as well. It can be a competitive world out there at times, but Grace goes above and beyond to help you out! I love watching Sinead Cady from the Makeup Chair on YouTube. Another local girl I love watching is Tanya-Rachel Makeup, her videos are brilliant! I love watching her how to's, hauls and reviews? She's so talented!
Q8: What makes you read the above blogs?
Again, I think it's that they all vary in style and they all bring their unique perspective on what they do. I can't tell you how many posts or videos I've watched on one item, but I'll get something different out of each review, little nuggets of information that I didn't know before. It's good to read the positive and negatives of any product before you decide the buy. You don't want to spend your hard earned cash on something that you're disappointed in.
Q9: What don't we know about you?
I briefly mentioned above that I'm not actually trained in anything beauty related. I graduated from UCD a couple of years ago but I'd love to do some sort of course in beauty, even just for myself that I can gain a better knowledge of what I'm discussing. Everything I know I learned from copious amounts of YouTube tutorials and major trial and error. I think that's what I love most about makeup, the more you practise and try, the better you can get at teaching yourself.
