Sunday Snippet : Beauty & the Massesuse

Today's Sunday Snippet is another Waterford Blogger this time in the form of the lovely Sarah from Beauty & the Masseuse. Sarah is a new blogger and her blog really has grown and gone from strength to strength over the last few months, As Sarah is a beauty therapist I love all her little tips and tricks which she shares with us. Make sure and check out all her social media links below.

1. Can you tell us a little about yourself?

I'm a qualified holistic and beauty therapist for the last 10 years and I'm running my own business for the last 4 years in The Tower Hotel, Waterford. I carry out a range of treatments ie; facials, massage, beauty treatments. I also write for the Munster Express. I love all things beauty related and I'm obsessed with skincare and buying makeup. I adore what I do because I love helping people feel better in themselves. People come into me for a treatment and they're all stressed/aching, they leave floating out the door and all relaxed.

2.  How did you get into blogging and why?

For me it all started with Snapchat. I set up an account to pass on makeup, skincare and bodycare tips and tricks. More and more people started following me and I was always asked, "What's your blog name?" And I always replied that I didn't have one. It was Jane Swarbrigg, Director of Inglot Ireland, who encouraged me to just go for it and I'm so happy I did. The main reason I started was simply to help people, whether that be advice on de-stressing, skincare or anything beauty related really.

3. What do you do when you aren’t working on your blog?

Werk, Werk, Werk!!! And when I'm not working I'm with my boyfriend, friends or family ❤

4. Are you a full time blogger?

I don't really know. I'm always writing but I tend to only post a blog once a week. So I guess I'm part time. Blogging for me is a passion, not a job, I only started in May and I'm loving it!

5. How do you keep coming up with content for your blog?

I write about things that interest me, what I'm passionate about and what I'd like to read and I just hope others find it interesting too.

6. Name some of the bloggers whom you look up to and why?

To be honest, I don't really look up to any bloggers. I think it's important to aspire to be the best possible version of yourself, don't try to copy or mimic somebody else and what they do because then you're not walking on your own path and you won't succeed. In saying that, if i had to pick one? I do love Joanne Larby's work ethic, her determination, her drive to succeed and achieve her goals.

7. Name the top blogs you read?

My favourite one is a mental health blog called "Madame Blueberry" by Ciara Whitty from Waterford. I also love "The Makeup Fairy" and "The Beautiful Truth." ❤

8.What makes you read the above blogs?

Ciara's story is incredible. I love her style of writing, she writes about such serious topics but how she incorporates so much humour is just brilliant. You could be laughing and crying from the one post. Her bravery in how she writes is commendable. "The Beautiful Truth" and "The Makeup Fairy" are so honest in their reviews and that's what I love the most. There are so many bloggers out there that say a product is amazing, just because it got sent to them and they don't want to say anything negative for fear they won't get sent anymore to review. The thing they don't realise is that if they recommend something that's actually rubbish and a reader goes off and buys it, they won't trust their review again, so the bloggers that do that are doing themselves no favours.

9. Tell us something we don't know about you?

I absolutely love learning!!! I always want to know more. Whether that be about skincare, our bodies or how our mind works. I did an evening course in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy(CBT), which is a form of counselling. I thought it would complement what I do. You'd be  surprised at how much people open up to you during a massage or facial. I've had people break down crying during treatments and I thought if I had some knowledge of CBT, it might be able to help some clients in the future.
