If the eyes are ‘the window to our soul’ the eye area is a reflection of our age, health and skin care regime.  There are five universal eye problems.

Fine lines around the eyes are caused by the natural breakdown of collagen and elastin in the skin plus years of exposure to the harmful UV rays from the sun.  They first tend to appear around the eyes in your thirties.

Eye wrinkles are caused by the same aging factors that reduce collagen and elastin production elsewhere in the skin, including genetic aging, environmental aging and hormonal aging.

Dark circles and pigmentation under the eye have many causes including genetics, aging, dry skin, working for long hours in front of a computer, stress, lack of sleep and an unhealthy diet.

Puffiness around the eyes is caused by the swelling of the tissues around the eyes called the orbits. It is almost exclusively caused by fluid build-up.  Eyes tend to get puffy due to water retention which is caused by a high concentration of salt in the area.

Hooded eyes come about as a result of the skin losing elasticity.  After 30 the skin loses collagen and elastin fibres.  The resting tension of the muscles in the upper eyelids decreases, causing the eyelids to drop.
