MAKE UP ARTIST MONDAYS : COLLETTE GRIFFIN

Well hello there and welcome to the newest feature on the blog. On some Mondays I will be bringing you a different make up artist and there favourite products. Second up is the gorgeous and amazing Collette Griffin. She is a Waterford Based Mua who I had the pleasure of attending two of her masterclasses so far and spending an entire day in college learning from her. Collette is a real down to earth girl and I honestly could watch her all day long. She is a credit to herself and her work is amazing. Collette had a passion and she went for it and it really has paid off.

1. Where are you based and what cities are you available to for work in?
I work from home at the moment which is in Ballybeg Waterford but in a few months I'll be moving into a salon part time. All will be announced soon when i have dates 100% confirmed.

2. What would be the best long wear products you would recommend?
When it comes to long wearing makeup i love Mac studio fix fluid foundation with Mac studio fix powder on top is amazing. Also a setting spray will play a massive role when it comes to making your makeup last all day. Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipstick are sooo long wearing and really comfortable to wear.

3. Best beauty tip to follow?
My best beauty tip.. God thats a hard one. Probably keeping your skin clean and always removing your makeup. I'm not going to lie, i have slept with a full face of makeup on plenty of times but i really try not to. It ages me sooooo bad 😭😭😭😭

4. Who inspires you?
There is a few people who inspire me but in general the people i look up to are people who follow their dreams and believe in themselves.  Especially ladies that have kids, business , house etc. Seeing women who can find a happy balance between all those things i find very inspiring. If i had to give names , the pixiwoo sisters aka real techniques brushes founders.  They are probably first people i followed on you tube . I really look up to them, they are normal women and there is no BULLSHIT with them and thats probably why i adore them.

5. Favourite budget makeup brand?
I do love Sleek and Paese. So affordable and the quality is unreal x

6. Favourite high end makeup brand?
My favourite high end would probably be Mac or Chanel.  I also love Marc Jocobs foundation.  Cant cope  ❤❤❤

7. Favourite concealer?
I have 3 favourite concealers. Bare minerals for dry mature skin. Urban Decay for normal to oily skin and my new favourite is Tarte tape shape concealer. It's absolutely amazing.

8. Favourite foundation for oily skin?
My favourite foundation for oily skin is Nars weightless luminous foundation or double wear from Estee lauder. Pages do a matt long wearing foundation, I love that also.

9, Favourite foundation for dry skin?
Favourite Foundation for dry skin would be Georgio armani luminous silk or nars sheer glow or makeup forever hd. If your on a budget I like loreal true match lumi and Bourjois healthy mix serum

10. Powder or Cream contour?
I used to never cream contour, I felt it would all look the same after I blended it out but it was Me, I just havnt mastered the skill of blending it out. Now I love to cream contour but it does take that bit longer so if I didn't have time on my side I would skip cream contour and just go straight in to powder contour.

11. Favourite eyeshadow brand?
My favourite eyeshadows brand, well I have a few. Melt Cosmetics, Anastasia Beverly Hills, makeup atelier x makeup geek is amazing aswell and so cheap.  OMG and inglot aswell... they are unreal x

12. Makeup product you cannot live without?
The makeup product that I can't live without is my Jane iredale pure pressed omg this is my holy grail. It's a foundation and powder together. I love it for on the go application, it's a quick fix which I think most people want. It's available at the beauty salon down in the king Fisher.

13. What order do you apply makeup?
What order do I do my makeup so first off my skin needs to be clean. Apply moisturiser.  Fill in brows. Prime eye lads.  Set lids with loose translucent powder. Do eye makeup , apply lashes . Apply primer , normally I just spray Mac fix plus.  Then apply foundation. Next up is concealer.  Set concealer and the rest of the face with a loose translucent powder. Bronze the skin next then contour , highlight and blush. Next up is lips and I finish off the eyes by adding shadow to the lower lashline. Set with a setting spray of choice and thats it .

14. Favourite area of makeup?
I love soft romantic makeup, it's just my personal style so that's why I love it. But I do like doing full on glam aswell but if I had to pick it would definitely be soft and romantic.

15. Favourite primer?
I love Mac Prep and Prime natural base lumiere.

16. Favourite lashes?
I'm loving the lashes from Dare to dreams lashes in the style Moonstuck.  I also love red cherry. House of lashes are amazing also.

17. Any tips for a new mua who is trying to get their name out there?
The advice I'd give to any who is trying to get them selves out there would be to be confident even if your shitting yourself inside , don't show it. If you are at a stage where you doing good makeups then you need to get them photos up on all social media and be consistent.  And of course practice practice practice.  Also offer yourself to do some free makeup whether it's a charity event or whatever.  It's a great way to get your name out there.

18. Favourite place to buy makeup?
Waterford has some great pharmacies which stock some amazing products.  Delanys Pharmacy In Johnstown is an amazing little place to pick up kit essentials, Waterford health park is another amazing Pharmacy that I always get bits and pieces from..online I probably get a lot off cloud 10 or beauty bay or cult beauty xx

19. Is there any holy grail products you recommend?
My holy grails products that I always repurchase are Mac fix plus, Mac studio fix fluid, Mac paint pot in soft ochre and painterly.  Mac select cover up concealer. Jane iredale pure pressed powder.

20. Favourite makeup look to do?
My favourite makeup look to do on myself is winged liner with a red lip, on clients it depends on the client but I do love looks that are quiet simple. Sometimes simplicity is best ...
