Dingle Original Gin :The Spirit of Summer

Dingle Original Gin, from the award winning Dingle Distillery, has grown in popularity year on year since its launch in 2012. Dingle Gin, London Dry in style, has a unique fresh floral character resulting from a carefully selected mix of botanicals including rowanberry, fuchsia, bog myrtle, hawthorn and heather, for a real flavour of Kerry.  Winner of ‘Best Irish Gin’ in 2017, Dingle Gin is best served with large cubes of ice, a wedge of fresh orange and a sprinkling of juniper berries. (Dingle Original Gin 70cl, 42.5%, RRP €37, available nationwide.)

“Dingle Gin is the perfect summer pour” said Elliot Hughes of Dingle Distillery. “Crisp, complex and very refreshing, a Dingle G&T is never more popular than when the sun is shining. Already embraced by Irish gin afficionados, it’s now being enjoyed by more and more drinkers across Europe and the US.’ In Ireland, a Dingle Gin & Tonic can be enjoyed in most quality bars and restaurants.

Dingle Distillery’s original 500L copper gin still, named ‘Oisín’, will be joined this summer by ‘Niamh’ a 2000L gin still, as part of a new bottling line, allowing for increased production and the creation of seasonal Dingle Gin products. On principle, Dingle Distillery will only ever produce for Dingle Distillery, staying true to their ethos of the art of independent distilling, and passionate about quality over quantity.

To create Dingle Gin’s distinctive character combination, the flavours are macerated in spirit for 24 hours. When the spirit is distilled it passes through a flavour basket in the neck of the still, part of an artful process of distillation designed to create a sense of place and provenance. The distilled spirit is collected at 70% abv and then cut to 42.5% abv using the purest of water, which is drawn from Dingle Distillery’s own well, 240 feet below the distillery.

Dingle Distillery is located on the Wild Atlantic Way in Dingle Co, Kerry and was founded in 2012, at the height of the recession. The distillery now produces Dingle Whiskey, Dingle Vodka and Dingle Gin.
